Gadecki, Peers conquer tournament

The champions of the mixed doubles tournament are Olivia Gadecki and John Peers!
They’ve become the first Aussie mixed doubles Australian Open champions since 2013, when Matt Ebden and Jarmila Gajdosova took victory.
“A fantastic moment for them both,” says Nine’s Sam Stosur.
“… Geez, they did well to come back in that match and played a very, very good super tiebreak to win the championship.”
Birrell fires an ace!
Kim Birrell and Patrick-John Smith are trailing 8-5 but Birrell slams an ace to reduce the deficit!
“Pinpoint,” says Nine’s Sam Stosur.
Olivia Gadecki and John Peers are leading the 10-point tiebreak 8-6.
Alexander Zverev might be the world No.2 but he would be considered the underdog in his semi final against No.7 seed Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic is a 10-time Australian Open champion, but former Aussie pro John Millman says there is a key to Zverev winning the match.
“(Zverev) is going to have to turn around that grand slam record against him – in grand slam matches he is 0-3,” Millman tells Nine.
“We know how good Novak is… especially on Rod Laver Arena.
“Zverev has got to do two things well – he’s got to serve well, that’s his strength; he’s also got to take the game on.
“A grand slam against Novak Djokovic, he doesn’t let you win, you’ve got to go and win it, and that has sometimes been Zverev’s problem.
“He hasn’t run to the finished lines, he’s wanted his opponents to lose it against it.
“But he is playing well… this is going to be an absolute cracker.”
Their semi final is next up on Rod Laver Arena.
Hilarious reaction after nasty Badosa stack
Paula Badosa of Spain took a tumble early in her semi final against best friend Aryna Sabalenka.
Badosa ran for a ball but missed the shot, and then awkwardly fell over while her racquet was flung several metres away.
She lay motionless for several seconds as Sabalenka began making her way over to her friend out of concern.
