The Dallas Cowboys are experiencing a period of change as they seek to overhaul the roster to effectively compete with the rest of the NFL.

After making the playoffs following the 2023 NFL season, the Cowboys took a massive step back last season as they failed to make the postseason.

While injuries are largely to blame, Dallas also lacked much coaching, so Mike McCarthy wasn’t brought back this offseason.

With McCarthy out, the Cowboys conducted a modest coaching search that resulted in offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer taking the head coaching job.

Schottenheimer’s hiring was received with negative reviews as it signaled another way for Jerry Jones to retain control of the roster and how it plays.

Meanwhile, it appears quarterback coach Scott Tolzien is leaving the organization following Schottenheimer’s elevation to head coach via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

“#Cowboys QBs coach Scott Tolzien, whose contract has expired, is expected to move on from Dallas, source said. A talented QB tutor who coached Dak Prescott during his MVP runner-up season, Tolzien should resurface soon,” Rapoport reported.
