The 2025 Senior Bowl is underway. It’s a huge platform for many players to showcase their abilities in front of NFL scouts before the draft is set to start on April 24.
The Miami Dolphins are one team with representatives in attendance and after going 8-9 in the regular season and missing the playoffs, nailing the draft could put them right into Super Bowl contention.
Of course, in the process leading up to the draft, there will also be many face-to-face conversations between teams and prospects.
Some very noteworthy ones come from the Dolphins, as C. Isaiah Small of The Miami Herald reports that the team has talked to quarterbacks Jalen Milroe of Alabama and Dillon Gabriel of Oregon about filling potential backup roles.
It’s an interesting development and one that could have direct complications for the team’s current starter, Tua Tagovailoa.
It was a rocky year for Tagovailoa, who suffered his fourth concussion since 2019 during Miami’s Week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills. That led to speculation he could retire, but he was back to playing in games by Week 8
In his 11 games started, he completed 291-of-399 passes for 2,867 yards, 19 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 101.4 passer rating.
Considering Tagovailoa will be entering the second year of his four-year $212 million contract, it’s interesting to see the Dolphins having conversations with quarterbacks who they may need to spend a third-round pick on to get.
Pro Football Focus currently ranks Gabriel and Milroe as the Nos. 67 and 68 players in the draft, respectively.
