Dodgers’ Kiké Hernández Reacts to Post About The Lull in His Free Agency

A Los Angeles Dodgers fan favorite remains on the market, and it has many people wondering why. Former All-Star Mike Cameron took to social media to express his frustration with the lull in Kiké Hernández’s free agency process.

“Kike Hernandez is still a free agent … make it make sense the guy is a bone fide winning play off gamer that can play everywhere,” Cameron wrote in a post on X.

Hernández then replied: “Loved watching you play bro!! This tweet means a lot”

There have been few rumblings surrounding the utility man’s next landing spot. However, as free agency often does, there was a random flurry of speculation surrounding Hernández on Saturday.

The New York Post reported the New York Yankees had inquired about the Dodgers fan favorite. However, the thought of Hernández in pinstripes next season seems a bit outlandish. But then again, the winter tends to shock and awe the baseball world.

Nevertheless, Dodgers fans received a hopeful update on Hernández just a few hours later at Fan Fest. President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said the “door will never be closed on Kiké.”

Furthermore, general manger Brandon Gomes said the Dodgers would talk to Hernández soon about a potential reunion.

“A lot of it is just making sure he and his family feel like it’s the best position for him,” Gomes said. “But we’ll have those conversations.”

Although the Dodgers have engineered a top tier roster, Hernández provides an invaluable contribution to the clubhouse. The energy Hernández brings is essential for the team, as their everyday routine can at times grow mundane throughout the lengthy season.

And of course, Hernández is bound to light up in October.

The Dodgers fan favorite isn’t the only player experiencing a stalled free agency. Several big names remain on the market, which could also be adding to the slowness of Hernández’s offseason.

It is important to note the Dodgers signed Hernández at the end of February last season, so fans shouldn’t worry too much at this point in the offseason.
