The Baltimore Ravens may not have accomplished what they hoped for in 2024 after they crashed out of the playoffs in the divisional round against the Buffalo Bills, but there are several reasons to be excited for what the future holds.
One of them being the play of new star running back Derrick Henry.
After the Tennessee Titans let Henry walk in free agency last year, the Ravens scooped Henry up on a two-year, $16 million deal that looks like one of the biggest bargains in the NFL.
While Henry could have been offended that Tennessee let him leave, he revealed that he still has love for the city and their fans.
“Of course I’ll always have love for Titans fans,” Henry said at the NFL Honors on Thursday night. “And I appreciate the ones still cheering for me, even though I’m in a different uniform, on a different team now. From what I saw and heard, there were people in Tennessee still showing me love, and I definitely appreciate it.”
With Baltimore, Henry turned in one of the best seasons of his career, rushing 1,921 yards and 18 total touchdowns.
The pairing between Henry and the Ravens is off to a great start, and according to the man himself, if he were to have it his way, he’d finish his career out in Baltimore.
“I want to retire a Raven,” Henry said to Dianna Russini of The Athletic on Thursday night.
Henry just turned 31 in January, and he only has one year left on his current contract with the Ravens.
Considering how well he is playing though, if he wanted to, Henry likely could continue playing for several more years with Baltimore surely interested in bringing him back if he keeps on putting up monster numbers.
Henry was named to his fifth Pro Bowl and earned the third All-Pro selection of his career (one first-team and two second-team).
