It was confirmed this week that President Donald Trump will attend Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.
During his media availability on Wednesday, Chiefs star Travis Kelce was asked about Trump attending the Super Bowl. On Sunday night, Trump will become the first sitting president in United States history to attend the big game. The All-Pro tight end thinks it’ll be “awesome” to compete in front of the commander in chief.
“That’s awesome,” Kelce told reporters. “It’s a great honor, I think, no matter who the president is. I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, and having the president there – it’s the best country in the world. So, that’d be pretty cool.”
So, what does Trump think of Kelce? He actually let the world know his thoughts on Friday morning.
Trump referred to Kelce as the “absolute best tight end” the NFL has ever seen.
“Two great Quarterbacks in this game. Also, an unbelievable running back, and the absolute best tight end in football (Ever!). Incredible coaching! If they would only get rid of that really weird looking new Kickoff ‘deal,’ which actually makes football more dangerous, they would be doing everybody, especially the fans, a big favor,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “ANYWAY, IT WILL BE A GREAT GAME!!! I’ll be doing the interview, before the game, at 3:00 P.M. There hasn’t been one in four years (Gee, I wonder why?).”

Earlier this week, Kelce was asked about possibly being the “GOAT” at his position. His response was as classy as it gets.
“I used to really, really care about that,” Kelce said. “I used to want to be known as the greatest tight end ever. I think it’s more about sharing these moments with my teammates. … I think I just want to be known as one of the best teammates these guys have ever had.”
Kelce doesn’t have the most receiving yards all-time for a tight end, but he does have three Super Bowl rings and a handful of playoff records.
And for what it’s worth, Kelce clearly has the president’s support as well.
