With the Super Bowl under 48 hours away, the 2024 NFL season is nearing completion. The NFL Honors have taken place and major awards have been handed out to their respective winners.
The Baltimore Ravens had their eyes peeled on the awards being announced as Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry were both up for Offensive Player of the Year, with the signal-caller also being in the MVP race.
Jackson threw for 4,172 yards, 41 touchdowns and four interceptions with 915 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. The superstar led Baltimore to a 12-5 record during the 2024 campaign.
While the club suffered yet another postseason disappointment after a gut-wrenching 27-25 Divisional Round loss to the Buffalo Bills — that disappointment continued as Jackson fell just short of a hat trick for the MVP award.
The two-time winner was the runner-up for the MVP trophy, losing out to Bills superstar quarterback Josh Allen, who won the award for the first time in his career.
Former NFL quarterback and current Sirius XM host Jim Miller made waves after his vote was released. Most had Jackson or Allen No. 1 on their ballots, with the other being runner-up.

Miller placed Jackson No. 4 on his ballot, which left many fans in shock. When addressing the vote during his Friday show, he didn’t explain much but rather talked about Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes.
“A lot of people loved Lamar,” Miller said. “Certainly I voted a certain way. A lot of people didn’t like their take on that. And I had my five.”
Instead of breaking down his decision, Miller explained why he nearly placed Mahomes above Jackson following the season the two signal-callers had.
“At the end of the day, this is a team sport, and he has won more than anybody. He’s 15-2 on the year, and I had to refrain myself, but I would’ve slept very nicely with him being the MVP for my vote,” Miller continued. “…So I sleep very good with how I voted. A lot of people didn’t like it because Lamar is quite a player.”
Not much of an explanation was offered. Each of the MVP finalists winning the award is more than deserved, though having Jackson that low on the ballot is quite absurd.
