“BREAKING: Chicago Cubs’ Trade Pitch Would Ship Star Slugger to Red Sox in Blockbuster Deal!”

The MLB offseason is starting to wind down, and as teams decide whether they are going to be true contenders, there is still the opportunity to make moves that aren’t from the free agent market.

There has been rumbling between the Chicago Cubs being willing to move Seiya Suzuki and the Boston Red Sox could be a suitor, among other teams.

The deal makes sense for both teams, as the Red Sox would acquire a strong right-handed for the middle of the order, and the Cubs could clear some cap space as they’ll pay Suzuki $21 million for each of the next two seasons.

The trade proposal could send shortstop Franklin Arias, third-baseman Romy González, and starting pitcher Brayan Bello to the Cubs in return for Suzuki.

Arias is considered a top-50 prospect, and while the Cubs have an incredible farm system, having more prospects isn’t a bad plan.

Gonález played in 89 games with the Red Sox and posted a .266 average, scored 25 runs, and stole 11 bases.

The Cubs could platoon Gonzalez against left-handed starters while allowing their top prospect, Matt Shaw, to develop as a quality MLB player without the pressure of being the No. 1 guy at third base when Opening Day rolls around.

This trade also means Boston could move on from starter Bryan Bello, who posted a 4.49 ERA in 2024 but did not end the season well.

Suzuki also fits the Red Sox’s need for a potent right-handed bat. He has recorded 20 home runs in each of the last two years and averages 26 doubles a season.
