The Dallas Cowboys went from a flawed but somewhat respectable team to one of the most brutal watches in the sport. Losing Dak Prescott and replacing him with lowly Cooper Rush is one thing, but it looks like head coach Mike McCarthy is trying to get fired as well.

The Cowboys, already down 7-0 in a Monday Night Football matchup against the Houston Texans, tried to spice things up by having punter Bryan Anger throw a pass on a fake punt. The throw looked more like lobbing a grenade than an NFL pass, and Dallas was stoped five yards short of the marker.

Prescott, watching from the stands as he recovers from his injury, had a look of stunned silence on his face. The Cowboys season isn’t just getting flushed away, but it’s getting flushed in utterly comedic fashion, making it all the more painful.

Dak Prescott stunned after Cowboys fail with botched fake punt

The Cowboys got immediately bailed out on the next possession, as CJ Stroud threw an interception on fourth down. That doesn’t mean that Dallas is in a position to take over this game, as Houston punched them in the mouth as soon as they came out of the game in this contest.

The Texans nearly gave the recently healthy Nico Collins a 77-yard touchdown on the first play of the game, but it was called back due to a penalty. The Texans were unbothered, as they managed to score via a Joe Mixon 45-yard touchdown run that gave the interstate rivals a quick 7-0 advantage.

After getting the ball back, Rush threw a nightmare of an interception after a miscommunication between quarterback and receiver. It looks like the issues from Dallas’ game against the Eagles have bled over into this one, which will be televised in front of everyone.

If this is the kind of unwatchable slop Dallas expects to put out there for their fans in the next few weeks, there is no reason to tune in. Even Prescott, who is the sole reason this team wasn’t in the Travis Hunter sweepstakes all season long, is having a hard time.
