The Cowboys’ franchise quarterback makes his appearance after undergoing season-ending surgery.
Ahead of “Monday Night Football,” Dak Prescott made his return to AT&T Stadium after undergoing surgery on his hamstring.
Earlier today, the Dallas Cowboys officially placed their franchise quarterback on the injured reserve list. Originally after the Cowboys’ Week 9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons – when Prescott injured his hamstring – Cowboys COO Stephen Jones Jones told 105.3 The Fan that Prescott was expected to miss four to six weeks or the rest of the season.
Now Prescott’s 2024 season has come to an end.
In Week 8, Prescott partially tore his hamstring, an avulsion – his tendon was partially off the bone. Then on Nov. 13, Prescott underwent a season-ending surgery. Jerry Jones confirmed the surgery during his usual spot on The Fan last week.
In the tunnels of AT&T Stadium, Prescott was spotted with crutches. After changing into team gear, the quarterback made his way to the field to be with his team before “MNF.”
Prescott finished the season leading the Cowboys to a 3-5 record. In those eight games, Prescott threw for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns, eight interceptions and had a QBR of 47.0. In Week 1, the former Mississippi St. Bulldog signed a four-year, $240 million contract extension – making him the highest paid player in NFL history.
Cooper Rush will assume the QB1 position for “MNF” and the following weeks. Backup QB Trey Lance might see some action as well.
