Free agent Kiké Hernández announced he would be returning to the Los Angeles Dodgers for the 2025 season. It’s now been confirmed the Dodgers fan favorite will return to L.A. on a one-year deal.

MLB insider Bob Nightengale was the first to report the news. The financial terms of the contract are not known.

The Dodgers have signed some of the top free agents available this winter, but the question fans constantly asked was when the defending champions would bring back Hernández.

Hernández had been linked to other clubs throughout the offseason, but even those reports included a sentiment of doubt regarding the Dodgers fan favorite joining another team.

The New York Post’s Mark W. Sanchez reported the Bombers have checked in on Hernández this winter/

“A source said the Yankees have inquired on Hernandez, whom they also asked about last winter,” Sanchez wrote.

However, Sanchez added an important note.

“The most likely destination for Hernandez, though, is probably back in Los Angeles, and the Dodgers will have open roster spots when they are able to slide injured players to the 60-day injured list,” Sanchez wrote.

Hernández had been predicted to leave L.A., as reports cited no roster room with the Dodgers and interest from other contenders as reasons for his departure. But Dodgers fans were adamant about their desire for his return.

President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said the Dodgers’ goal this offseason was to reward the fanbase.

“From our standpoint, that’s our only mission: to do everything we can to be great stewards of this organization and to reward our incredibly passionate fans.”

The Dodgers have outmatched every organization in adding talent throughout the offseason. From signing ace Blake Snell to reliever Tanner Scott, there is no shortage of talent on the roster.

However, the Dodgers front office made fans ecstatic by bringing back Hernández, an October hero and fan favorite.
