Taylor Swift was left stunned after being met with emphatic booing at the Caesars Superdome when she appeared on the jumbotron for the first time on Sunday night at the Super Bowl.
The singer was in New Orleans to cheer boyfriend Travis Kelce on in what could be the final game of his glittering NFL career for the Kansas City Chiefs. And if it is how he finishes, Kelce could well be bringing the curtain down with an emphatic loss.
Eagles birthday boy Cooper DeJean scored a pick six in the second quarter to give the Eagles a 17-0 lead over the Chiefs in Louisiana. And if Kansas City’s historic three-peat hopes hanging by a thread then, they looked dead and buried by the halftime interval when AJ Brown punished Mahomes after a second interception by scoring a third TD for a 24-0 lead. Jalen Hurts, the Eagles quarterback, got the first TD.
The appalling Chiefs collapse comes after Swift and Kelce surprisingly went out for dinner on Friday night in New Orleans at a French restaurant with Patrick and Brittany Mahomes. While there was no suggestion they broke any team rules, it was extremely surprising to see them out and about so close to the game. It doesn’t usually happen that near to a Super Bowl. And perhaps this is why.
With the stadium seemingly boasting more Philadelphia Eagles fans than members of Chiefs Kingdom, Swift did not get a nice reception when cameras zoomed in on her before the carnage unfolded. The 35-year-old singer appeared to notice the booing, giving a mocking side-eye response as the noise mercilessly rang out around the packed stadium.

Swift once claimed she was an Eagles fan – telling her fans at an Eras Tour show in Philadelphia that lyrics in her song Gold Rush were about her fandom of the NFL team.
Speaking to the crowd at summer 2023 show, Swift said: ‘I don’t know how large the debate was, but I did see the debate (about what her lyrics about an Eagles shirt meant).
‘I saw some people wondering if it was the band Eagles or the team the Eagles.
‘And I love the band the Eagles but guys, come on. I’m from Philly. Of course it’s the team.’
But since meeting Kelce, she has been all about the Chiefs.
In the early days of her relationship with Kelce, Swift was asked in an interview with TIME magazine about NFL fans disliking her attendance at game.
I’m just there to support Travis,’ she said. ‘I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.’
Ironically, Swift’s father Scott is known as a big Eagles fan – or at least he was, until Swift started dating Kelce.

But the first half was a hard watch for Swift as the Chiefs fell apart against the Eagles
Kelce struggled to have any sort of impact as his Chiefs team toiled in New Orleans
Since then, he has often joined her for games at Arrowhead Stadium and has been seen on multiple occasions wearing Chiefs merch at games in Kansas City. He was wearing a Chiefs sweater for the game in New Orleans, too.
The game on Sunday night has split the Kelce family, as well.
Travis’s brother Jason said he is cheering on the Eagles, against his younger sibling, as he played his own 13-year NFL career for the Philadelphia team.
The older Kelce brother tearfully announced his retirement after the end of last season and now, there is growing speculation Travis will do the same after Sunday’s game.
Jason and Kylie were sat in the same suite as Swift, but took their seats towards the back while Taylor sat front and center with Ice Spice and members of the band Haim.
