As NFL fans worldwide were preparing for Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, ESPN’s Adam Schefter sent shockwaves through the league with a single tweet.
In the tweet, he stated that the San Francisco 49ers gave Deebo Samuel and his agent, Tory Dandy, permission to find a trade partner for the 2021 All-Pro.
The timing is likely no coincidence, as Samuel enters his seventh season in the NFL at age 29. He accumulated just 670 yards receiving and just 136 yards rushing on 42 attempts.
The Niners have plenty of options in the pass-catchers department. They spent a first-round pick on wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, and that was before the emergence of Jauan Jennings, who impressed with 975 yards on a team-high 113 targets.

All that is before you even mention George Kittle, one of the league’s top tight ends. Samuel will account for $15,825,505, 5.25% against the cap.
Considering Samuel’s lack of versatility he showed last year, he may just be a bit too rich for the Niners’ blood who have quite the crowded receiver room at the moment.
So where could he go? Schefter offered one team he believes Samuel could end up on.
