Pitchers and catchers have finally reported for the Boston Red Sox as spring training approaches, and after acquiring third baseman Alex Bregman, the organization is buzzing with excitement.
However, the starting rotation is already being hampered by injuries. Brayan Bello reported some shoulder soreness during the first week of camp but is expected to resume throwing shortly.
Bello took the week off from throwing and underwent imaging, which came back clear. He will ramp up his preparation for the 2025 season next week. The 25-year-old right-hander is looking to have a breakout year for the Red Sox. He recorded a 4.59 ERA and 153 strikeouts over 162.1 innings in 2024.

This will be Bello’s fourth MLB season, and he’s been able to take the mound every fifth day for Boston over the last two seasons, throwing more than 150 innings consecutively.
Boston had hoped Bello could be one of their aces in recent seasons, but with the additions of Garrett Crochet and Walker Buehler, some of that pressure may be alleviated.
All of Boston’s starters need to stay healthy, but luckily for the team, this appears to be just a small bump in the road, and Bello should be able to get back on track for a potential breakout season.
