The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to have one of their biggest stars back in time for the start of the regular season.
Reigning World Series MVP Freddie Freeman is slowly recovering from ankle surgery he underwent earlier in the offseason.
While Freeman said he hasn’t been cleared to run, he expects to be ready when the Dodgers face the Chicago Cubs in the Tokyo Series starting March 18. Freeman also said he hopes to participate in running drills next week.
He remains one of the league’s biggest stars despite preparing to turn 36 when the 2025 MLB season begins.
His production dipped slightly at the plate last season, as he recorded 58 fewer hits and 50 fewer runs than in 2023. It was also the first time he posted a batting average below .290 since 2015.

Freeman delivered a strong postseason performance, including the World Series win over the New York Yankees.
He accounted for five runs, six hits, four home runs, 12 RBIs, two walks and just one strikeout while posting a .300 batting average, a .364 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage.
