Stephen A. Smith vs. Donald Trump Poll Update Reveals Shocking Presidential Support
FRISCO – While the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and President Donald Trump try to iron out the details of a possible tradition-following White House visit, some have another thought about another visit. … this one semi-permanent.
How about Stephen A. Smith for president of the United States?
ESPN personality Smith goes back and forth on the subject, clearly having fun with the ego-feed. But the TV shock jock, with his most prominent platform being a playful “fake hate” of the Dallas Cowboys, is considered no joke by some voters and is reportedly ” as a potential 2028 Democratic candidate for president,” according to Front Office Sports.
Smith, 57, reportedly has a 2-percent share in a recent poll on potential Democratic candidates. That puts him 1 percent behind former Democratic vice presidential candidate and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and be 1 percent higher than Texas-based politician Beto O’Rourke.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris, the 2024 Democratic presidential candidate, is currently the poll leader at 33 percent.
Smith himself is adding to the speculation by saying he “might entertain running” while appearing on the FOX News‘ Hannity earlier this month.
Said Smith: “The Democratic Party looks so pathetic after this election; I might entertain running. I just might change my mind one day. I doubt it, but I might. Because how much would it take to beat y’all? And Trump can’t run again.”
But in the next breath, Smith said he isn’t interested in running.
“My lifestyle is quite lovely,” he said. “I would not want to ruin that by running for the presidency of the United States of America. I have no interest …”
Smith is a polarizing figure – and one not to be taken seriously when it comes to football analysis and high-volume goofiness regarding the Cowboys.
But there really are rumors circulating that Democratic leaders are considering Smith for … something.
“No, that’s other people entertaining that,” Smith said recently. “I’m just doing my job every damn day. I ain’t trying to run for office or anything like that.”
Smith has in the past spoken openly about how he would defeat Trump in a debate.
Said Smith: “If the American people want to sit there and say ‘Yo, we want Stephen A. to run,’ I’m not going to be mad at that. I don’t know what the hell they’re thinking, because I ain’t qualified, but if you want to entertain it, then you can go ahead and entertain it.”
Of course, winning a debate does not a president make. And Stephen A. – in actually admitting that he’s not qualified for the job – seems to get that.
And still. …
“We’ve gotta respect the fact that he is the president of the United States of America,” Smith said. “But hell, he’s inspired all of us, because if he can be president, then a lot of us can be president.”
