The Chicago Cubs are off to a hot start with a 6-0 record this spring training, but one of their former players isn’t having a great start to his season.
Former Cubs starting pitcher Marcus Stroman is having trouble with his current club, the New York Yankees. They are struggling to find a spot for him in the rotation or out of the bullpen.
Stroman has made it known he will not pitch out of the bullpen this season, but with the Yankees’ upgrades to the starting rotation this winter, adding Max Fried to go along with Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodon, Luis Gil, and Clarke Schmidt, there isn’t a place for Stroman.

During live batting practice on Tuesday, Stroman was asked by NJ Advance Media’s Randy Mille if he was competing for a starting job, and stated, “No,” he said. “Not at all.” via Peter Chawaga from The Sporting News.
Stroman started 29 games last season in his first year with the Yankees, finishing with a 4.31 ERA in 154.2 innings pitched.
The 33-year-old pitcher moved into a relief role at the end of last season and did not appear in a postseason game.
It doesn’t seem like the situation with the Yankees will end well; however, if New York rolls with a six-man rotation, Stroman may have a spot.
