Despite losing 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, a member of the Kansas City Chiefs still made a trip to the White House.
On Thursday, photos of Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, who has been with the team since 2017, emerged on social media.
While it’s unclear what the purpose of his visit to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue was for, Butker did get a couple of chances to take some photos in some of the more notable rooms the White House has to offer. The picture that has caught quite a bit of attention online features him in the Oval Office with President Donald Trump.
Although Butker’s pop-in at the White House seemed to be a bit of a surprise on social media, it isn’t the first time the two have been in the same building this month. Trump also appeared at Butker’s place of work, as he was in attendance for Super Bowl LIX, which was played at the Superdome in New Orleans earlier this month.
After being elected as the 45th president of the United States, Trump was elected to serve as the 47th president this past November.
Butker has been somewhat of a frequent visitor to the White House since the Chiefs won both Super Bowl LVII and Super Bowl LVIII in the two seasons leading up to this one. Had they beaten the Eagles, they would have become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowl titles.
In terms of Butker’s Thursday visit, he also was also able to pose for a photo in the briefing room with Assistant to the President and White House Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt.
Butker may not be the only participant of Super Bowl LIX to make a trip to D.C. as the Eagles are reportedly planning to visit the White House. However, according to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter earlier this week, they are awaiting an invitation.
