President Donald Trump hosted a prominent member of the Kansas City Chiefs at the White House Thursday.
Trump met with Harrison Butker, Kansas City’s longtime kicker and a supporter of his. Butker publicly endorsed Trump before the presidential election last November. The three-time Super Bowl champion is known for his conservative politics, which came into focus following his controversial graduation speech at Benedictine College last spring.
In his address, Butker told female students that being a mother is arguably the best thing they could do and also made remarks against then-President Joe Biden, the LGBTQ community, IVF, DEI and other topics.
Trump’s assistant Margo Martin shared a photo of the two men speaking in the Oval Office earlier today.
“The GOAT of kicking @buttkicker7 meets the GOAT of Presidents @realDonaldTrump 🇺🇸,” she wrote.
Unsurprisingly, Butker’s meeting with Trump has sparked a wide range of reactions on social media.
“That Kicks butt!” one person said.
“Happy to see Butker in the WH but a little disappointed. Would have expected Justin Tucker to be there. Afterall, his morals and values match a lot with the folks in the current administration.. or for that matter they match the morals and values shown by most elected officials,” another person added.
“Two losers,” a third person said.
“Things got awkward when Butker said a woman’s place is in the kitchen and Trump replied that he didn’t know what a kitchen is because he’s always had somebody for that,” another person joked.
“Love how welcoming this admin has been with faith!” a fifth person said.

Despite the backlash to his speech last year, Butker has maintained he doesn’t regret anything he said.
“It’s a decision I’ve consciously made and one I do not regret at all,” Butker said prior to the Chiefs’ 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59.
“Over the past few days my beliefs, or what people think I believe, have been the focus of countless discussions around the globe. At the outset, many people expressed a shocking level of hate. But as the days went on, even those who disagreed with my viewpoints shared their support for my freedom of religion.”
While Butker had his attention today, Trump is reportedly planning on inviting the entire Eagles team to D.C. to celebrate their Super Bowl title.
