Not everyone can call their shot and capitalize.
A tough lesson that former Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond and running back Jaydon Blue learned on the biggest stage of the NFL draft process. Both Bond and Blue are speedsters in their own right, but they each predicted that they’d break Xavier Worthy’s 40-yard dash record of 4.21 that he set at least year’s NFL scouting combine.
Unfortunately for them, they both ran in the 4.4 range, and social media is not letting them hear the end of it.
Their runs also drew a response from Worthy himself who wrote the same six-word message to both of them on Instagram, writing “Respect those whom come before you.”

If there is any consolation for Bond, he did clock in at the highest speed out of all the wide receivers that ran. However, his overconfidence prediction will likely be remembered by fans more than his top speed.
The lone Texas player who didn’t call his shot, but did run the 40-yard dash impressively was Matthew Golden. He ended up running a 4.30 unofficial 40-yard dash, and continues to bolster his draft stock.
This Texas offense clearly had a lot of speed all over the field, but they were clearly lacking Xavier Worthy-like speed, as most people are.
