The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine wraps on Sunday, meaning the next step in the pre-draft process involves players meeting with teams. Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty is reportedly set to meet with the Dallas Cowboys, and a key detail about their meeting recently emerged.
Jeanty is viewed as the top running back in the 2025 draft class after putting together a historic season with Boise State that saw him rack up 2,601 rushing yards and 30 total touchdowns. At the combine, Jeanty opened up on what it would mean to play for Dallas in the NFL.
“Just the fact that I grew up there, played high school football there, had games in their practice stadium, it’d be dope,” Jeanty said of potentially getting selected by the Cowboys in the draft, per Patrik Walker
Some folks were surprised that the Cowboys did not meet with Jeanty at the combine, but it doesn’t appear to be due to a lack of interest considering they’ve already scheduled a visit. In fact, since Jeanty is from the Dallas area, his visit won’t count as a Top 30 visit for the Cowboys.
“Quick clarification – Jeanty is from the Dallas area so he would not count as a Top 30 visit for the Cowboys upon visiting,” Jeremy Fowler of ESPN shared in a post on X.
Dallas owns the No. 12 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, which could end up being used to select Jeanty, who would fill one of their top needs heading into the offseason at running back.
The 2025 NFL draft is scheduled to kick off on Thursday, April 24 at 8 p.m. EST.
