Pro Bowl cornerback DaRon Bland has yet to play for the Dallas Cowboys this season and recently dealt with an injury setback. But he is an upbeat part of the news from the team’s Wednesday workout here inside The Star.
The Cowboys are just days ahead of their visit to take on the Washington Commanders in an attempt to stem the losing tide that has them at 3-7 on the year.
It was just before the bye week when Bland was able to work in two full practices before being sidelined again with a problem in his surgically-repaired foot.
Meanwhile, however, the Dallas offensive group still has problems, as two All-Pro offensive line were DNPs. Both Tyler Smith and Zack Martin were unable to go due to ankle injuries. Smith also has a problem with his knee, and Martin has issues with both ankles and a shoulder.
Tight end Jake Ferguson remains in concussion protocol and is unlikely to play this weekend. Fullback Hunter Luepke was again absent as well with his calf issue. And another headliner, receiver CeeDee Lamb, is listed as “limited” as he deals with issues with his back and foot (not to mention his recent shoulder sprain.)
Some reinforcements could be on the way as both Brandin Cooks and Marshawn Kneeland practiced in their efforts to return from the team’s injured reserve list.
