BREAKING: Red Sox Among Preferred Teams for Eight-Time MLB All-Star

Eight-time MLB All-Star and St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado is in the twilight of his MLB career and looks to make his last few years in the league special. In his time in the Major Leagues, Arenado has never been part of a World Series-winning team.

St. Louis know it takes time to build a title-winning team, but they are in rebuilding mode. While Arenado wants to maintain his relationship with the Cardinals, he knows this team’s ceiling is not high.

There is still some time for Arenado to have a few more years of elite play and chase a title, but it is likely not with the Cardinals. Everyone knows the team is in a rebuilding process—except for the organization.

Arenado has a list of teams he prefers to be traded to for a shot at a title, according to New York Post’s Jon Heyman. The Boston Red Sox are one of six teams Arenado would prefer to be traded to.

The Red Sox had one of the best offseasons of all 30 teams outside the Los Angeles Dodgers. Boston has reliable playmakers throughout the field. Arenado could find a place with this team, even if he or current third baseman Rafael Devers would play the designated hitter position.

Arenado prefers to be traded soon, but he understands he had a drop in productivity last season.

“I’m not trying to cause any problems. I’ve got to be committed. The year I had last year wasn’t the year I wanted … I’ve got to focus on being better than that.”

He was the least productive at the plate since his second year in the league, 2014. Arenado finished with an efficient batting average of .272 and a slugging percentage of .325. His goals as a player in the league are still clear, even if he is seeking a new environment.
