To provide some context, Southwest is currently facing some heat themselves after making a controversial decision earlier this week. The popular airline decided to end their “bags fly free” policy, announcing that they would begin charging some customers for checked bags.
“We have tremendous opportunity to meet current and future Customer needs, attract new Customer segments we don’t compete for today, and return to the levels of profitability that both we and our Shareholders expect. We will do all this while remaining focused on what’s made us strong—our People and the authentic, friendly, and award-winning Customer Service only they can provide,” Southwest CEO Bob Jordan said when explaining the decision.

So how do the Mavericks and their Doncic trade tie into this? Good question. With Southwest facing so much backlash for their decision, they decided to throw Dallas even further in the fire, further criticizing them for trading away the face of their franchise with a brutal six-word shot.
“It’s not like we traded Luka…” Southwest said in a post on Instagram before further explaining their policy change.
Since trading Doncic, the Mavericks have fallen apart, although that’s been largely due to the absurd amount of injuries they have suffered. However, they are still in position to earn a spot in the play-in tournament, as their 33-34 record is currently good for the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference.
Despite that, Dallas is trending in the wrong direction, as they have lost six of their past seven games. They will try to get back into the win column when they face off against the Houston Rockets on Thursday night.
