FRISCO — The relationship between DeMarcus Lawrence and the Dallas Cowboys had clearly reached its final scene ahead of the 2025 offseason. Once the vocal leader of the defense, Lawrence has faded into a secondary figure in recent seasons.
That has not defined his impact on the field but injuries combined with Micah Parsons rise to stardom spelled a changing of the guard at The Star. Such a shift seemed an amicable one until this past week.
Lawrence departed from the Cowboys in free agency, signing with the Seattle Seahawks. In an interview following the move, he made clear his belief that he would never win a Super Bowl in Dallas.
Much of the evidence through his tenure suggests the validity to that claim. Regardless, Parsons took offense to it and the two exchanged beef online in that aftermath.
Emmanuel Acho chimed in on the debate during an episode of FS1’s “The Facility,” siding with the veteran.
“Just because you wear the star and you wear the star at a supreme capability does not mean you’re the only one who has ever donned the star. DeMarcus Lawrence, fourth all-time in sacks for the Dallas Cowboys, DeMarcus Lawrence played for the Dallas Cowboys for 11 years.
“I would suggest that DeMarcus Lawrence isn’t hating, that DeMarcus Lawrence knows what he is talking about and sometimes the truth hurt.”
As Acho lays out, Lawrence leaves behind a respectable legacy with the Cowboys, whether the separation was amicable or not.
Parsons has never shied away from sharing his opinions and this instance is no different. Clearly, some emotions hidden away behind closed doors finally boiled over here.
But there are two sides to this feud. If Lawrence wants to throw dirt unprovoked, he should not be taking offense to the heat coming his way in response.
Most of the national pundits will find it easier to side against the current Cowboy in this instance. Parsons has certainly given them enough reason to feel that way.
However, there are feelings surfacing from this interactions that suggests Parsons and Lawrence had problems before the one of them jumped shipped and the other viral sensation.
