Travis Kelce’s Painful Admission About Super Bowl Loss: ‘It Hurts Inside Still’

Travis Kelce’s season with the Kansas City Chiefs did not go according to plan. Instead of celebrating what would have been an unprecedented Super Bowl three-peat, the Chiefs were left heartbroken after suffering a 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.

That painful loss is also one of the reasons why Kelce decided to shun retirement. The All-Pro tight end revealed that he “can’t go out like that,” which is why he’s decided to return for at least one more season with the Chiefs.

At this point, however, there’s no denying that the Super Bowl loss still stings for the three-time Super Bowl champ. In fact, in a recent episode of his “New Heights” podcast with his brother Jason Kelce, the Chiefs TE admitted that he’s still hurting from the heartbreaking defeat.

Actor Jason Sudeikis was the guest for Thursday’s episode, and at one point in the show, the “Ted Lasso” star opened up about his Chiefs fandom. Kelce could not help but apologize to Sudeikis for letting him down in the Super Bowl.

“Sorry about that,” Kelce said.

“Yeah, that’s alright. It’s a better story,” Sudeikis responded.

Kelce then admitted how much the loss still haunts him to this day.

“I laugh about it now, but it hurts inside still,” Kelce admitted.

Jason Kelce tried his best to cheer Travis Kelce up.

“You can’t just be winning all the time,” Jason Kelce said. “That’s not interesting at all. Nobody wants to watch five Super Bowls that you guys win.”

“It fooled me because I definitely thought it,” Travis Kelce responded.

Despite his painful admission, however, Travis Kelce is adamant that the Chiefs will be back with a vengeance. In fact, he delivered a bold promise to Sudeikis and the rest of the Kansas City faithful.

“We’ll be back better than ever,” he stated. “We got this, we got this. I got you brother.”
