There weren’t many options the Miami Dolphins could have done to rebuild their roster completely. The Dolphins still have found reliable playmakers through both sides of the ball at the beginning of the league year.
Miami cleared some extra salary space and re-signed some key offensive players. They did find one player that could be one of the most underrated signings for the team this off-season.
The Dolphins signed former Tennessee Titans wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to a one-year, $6.5 million deal. He spent the first five years with the Titans after going undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Westbrook-Ikhine is coming off a career year with the Titans after catching 32 receptions for 497 yards and nine touchdowns. He led the team in receiving touchdowns as a legitimate red-zone threat.
Dolphins Talk analyst Mike Oliva discussed with DougDoWrong that Westbrook-Ikhine was one of the Dolphins’ most underrated signings this off-season. Olivia also discussed the signing itself.
“The signing I like the best so far is wide receiver Nick Westbrook Ikhine—two-years; $6.5, $3.2 guaranteed. Guy caught nine touchdowns on 32 receptions from Mason Rudolph and Will Levis. And he actually solves a problem. Number three wide receiver, check, solved.”
Doug followed Mike’s appreciation of how Westbrook-Ikhine would fit into the offense.
“It’s exactly what we needed to stop throwing fades to Tyreek Hill when it doesn’t make any sense.”
Westbrook-Ikhine will be a significant contributor to the Dolphins’ offense. He will boost the team’s red-zone passing schemes, which the team previously struggled with.
