Lamar Jackson has a new backup quarterback in Baltimore after the team agreed on a two-year, $12.2million contract with Cooper Rush.
Rush started eight games for the Dallas Cowboys last season in the wake of Dak Prescott’s season-ending injury, going 4-4 as QB1.
He became a free agent at the end of the season and is now heading to the Ravens on a deal with $4.2m guaranteed money.
The 31-year-old posted career-high figures in yards (1,844) and touchdowns (12) in 2024, throwing five interceptions.
Rush was undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft before being picked up by the Cowboys, where he remained until May 2020, when he was waived and then later picked up by the New York Giants.
He never made it off the practice squad in New Jersey, though, eventually being cut and then picked up again by the Cowboys for a second stint in Dallas.

He won the backup job in 2021 and held that role for the past three seasons, providing a much bigger role than anticipated in the most recent campaign.
Rush’s exit fills a hole for Baltimore behind Lamar Jackson, and creates one for Dallas who will now need a backup quarterback of their own.
As it stands, Will Grier is the only quarterback behind Prescott in the Cowboys roster, and the team is expected to use the NFL Draft next month to bolster its ranks.
