FRISCO – Every year before the NFL Draft, teams are able to invite prospects for individualized meetings with staff and to tour the facilities.
Players native to the team’s area and those who play for nearby colleges are eligible to be invited by the front office. The team’s are only allowed to give out 30 outside invitations, but these “local” prospects don’t count toward that total.
This event was an important way to manage the limit of Scouting Combine interviews teams were allowed to have – they can invite a player to their “visit day” if they know he is a home-grown product, allowing them to meet with someone else at the Combine beforehand.
For a team like the Cowboys … “Dallas Day” is a huge advantage.
The DFW metroplex is a hot bed for home-grown talent because of the market size and Texas’ immense high school football culture.
Ahead of the 2025 Draft, there is an extensive list of eligible prospects. The list below is organized by the day each local player is projected to get picked and the three schools in the area who have players declared for the draft: TCU, SMU, and North Texas.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that some key prospects have already accepted invites to attend Dallas Day:
Miami RB Damien Martinez (Lewisville)
Oklahoma State RB Ollie Gordon II (Euless Trinity)
TCU WR Savion Williams
Texas QB Quinn Ewers (Southlake)
Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty (Frisco Lone Star)
Cal S Craig Woodson (South Grand Prairie)
These official visits also typically include a workout, but all information from the players’ visit remains private.
With the NFL Draft almost a month away, the Cowboys will start sending out invites to many of the names above, as there is no limit to how many local prospects visit The Star.
Judging by those who have reportedly already accepted, the front office will speak to elite prospects who have a good chance at hearing their names called in late April.
