The Kansas City Chiefs’ biggest issue for some, still remains the offensive line despite the franchise signing San Francisco 49ers backup Jaylon Moore to be the starter.
With Wanya Morris and Kingsley Suamataia not showing enough to warrant the starting role going forward, it will be Moore who comes in to settle everything down.
But that doesn’t mean the Chiefs will think the left tackle position is fixed. With the NFL Draft approaching, mock drafts are flying around everywhere, and when it comes to Kansas City, a theme is developing for most of them.
They still go offensive line in the first round.
For CBS Sports, in their latest mock, Ohio State’s Josh Simmons comes to Andy Reid’s offense.
“They signed Jaylon Moore to be the left tackle in free agency, but this kid might have the most upside of any lineman in this draft,” CBS Sports writes. “He is coming off a torn ACL, so they can be patient. It’s not like right tackle Jawaan Taylor has been good, either.”

So it appears that many think left tackle is still a position in need of strengthening, and with Simmons, along with Josh Conerly Jr., who has also been mocked to the Chiefs, the franchise wants cover.
That looms as a smart play given the franchise’s biggest asset in Patrick Mahomes needs protecting after being sacked a career-high 36 times in the regular season and then another 11 times in three playoff games.
