Head-to-head – Djokovic 1-0 Mensik

Novak Djokovic has looked like the most assured player this after crashing out in the first round at Indian Wells last week. The 24 time Grand Slam champion is yet to drop a set this tournament and his movement has been amazing leading him to strangle his opponents like he usually does. What has been so exciting to watch is the way he has hugged the baseline taking away time from opponents.

Jakub Mensik is just 19 years old, but this is not the first time he will be facing Djokovic. These two met at the Shanghai Masters last year in the last eight which went the distance. The Czech has showed his class throughout this week and his semifinal performance was as clutch as it could be. He served his way out in the third set tiebreaker and is into his second career final.

Coming to this match, it will boil down to if Mensik recovers well and how well can he hold his serve. His serve has been firing but he now faces the greatest returner ever. Mensik has to have the belief to battle it out from the baseline more so than he has in his previous matches. That is no easy feat against Djokovic to do and eventually the Serb is likely to break Mensik down by applying constant pressure in the form of making Mensik play the extra ball.
