The 2025 MLB season is underway, and for the Boston Red Sox, the offseason culminated in the key free agent addition of third baseman Alex Bregman. He signed a three-year, $120 million contract that keeps him in Boston through the 2027 season.
Bregman has been very vocal thus far about how much he enjoys the ambiance of Boston’s organization and how it is a serious brand of baseball—speaking with Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com, Bregman shared what has impressed him about the Red Sox early on in the season:

“How locked in everyone is on baseball,” Bregman said. “The want to win, the want to compete on a day-to-day basis, the want to get better. The constant attention to detail, the constant attention to the work. This is a hard-working group, and I really have extremely high expectations for this team this year.”
This isn’t the first time Bregman has mentioned high expectations, and there is a growing belief that Boston can contend for the American League East division crown.
However, Bregman is among a few of the Red Sox’s better hitters who have gotten off to a reasonably slow start through the season’s first series. The 31-year-old righty slugger has just four hits through 17 at-bats and hasn’t driven in any runs or recorded any extra-base hits.
Another top slugger notably slumping is Rafael Devers, who is 0-for-16 to start the season with 12 strikeouts. After the first series against the Texas Rangers, Boston lost three out of four and heads to Baltimore for a series against the Orioles.
