Robert Griffin III floated some reasonable advice for Micah Parsons. The former NFL quarterback would like to see the pass rusher ask for a trade away from the Dallas Cowboys.

It’s the same story every year. In 2024, CeeDee Lamb nearly disappeared from summer practice sessions and remained on the verge of joining another NFL team, and this year it’s slowly shaping up to be Parsons. And at the center of both dealings is none other than Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones.

Parsons’ rookie contract is set to expire this year. He was initially ready to settle in the range between $30 and $35 million per year until Myles Garrett received his new deal. Garrett agreed to sign a $40 million per year extension with the Cleveland Browns to become the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history.

The scenario changed. Parsons now wants to better the 2023 NFL Offensive Player of the Year’s contract. The 25-year-old will reportedly be happy with a $200 million contract—$50 million per year for four years.

Jones has a poor history of negotiating big-money contracts. Robert Griffin III shared his opinion on the fiasco. He gave Parsons a simple solution that would not only pay him good money but also land him a contender.

If Micah Parsons wants to win AND get paid, he should demand a trade from the Dallas Cowboys.

Robert Griffin III wrote

Teams will line up to trade for Micah Parsons in a heartbeat, but will the 4x Pro Bowler really request a trade?

Micah Parsons once said he is a Cowboy for life

This isn’t the first time Parsons received shouts of asking for a trade away from the Cowboys. However, it’s not as easy as it sounds.

Parsons is very close to Jones even though Jones went over his agent’s head to speak with the former first-round rounder to start the negotiations. Back in late December, when the Cowboys struggled to win games after Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending injury, fans and several analysts floated the idea of a trade. Parsons addressed the chatter by replying that he is a Cowboy for life.

I understand how that business side goes. There are no hard feelings in this business, whether I’m here [Dallas Cowboys] or anywhere else… I’m going to be a cowboy for life. We’re [Cowboys and his agent] gonna figure out a way for me to be a Cowboy for life. I’m gonna be very excited at the end of this year [and] I hope the fans are going to be excited because I think it’s going to be a great offseason.

Micah Parsons said on his Podcast (ht/Bleacher Report)

Parsons uttered similar words in February this year while hosting his podcast in front of a live audience and Jordan Love as his guest. The Green Bay Packers quarterback saw the opportunity and tried to recruit Parsons for his team. However, Parsons subtly rejected the offer.

“I’m in one of those Druski 360 deals, you feel me? I’m a for-lifer. I can’t go nowhere.

Micah Parsons told Jordan Love

Possible trade scenario

Obviously, the NFL picture is not the same as it was a month ago. The Garrett deal opened the door to even more lucrative deals in the future. But the Cowboys can avoid that if they trade Micah Parsons.

ESPN’s Bill Barnell proposed a three-team trade cycle between the Cowboys, the Browns, and the Atlanta Falcons.
