Some of the Dallas Cowboys’ struggles in 2024 tied to their ground attack, or lack thereof.
Last season, Dallas ranked 27th in the league in rushing yards (100.3). That’s why it came as a surprise when the Cowboys let Rico Dowdle — who led the team in rushing yards in 2024, with 1,079 in 16 games — sign a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers in free agency.
To replace Dowdle, Dallas signed RBs Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders. But it appears the Cowboys are considering adding to their backfield during the 2025 NFL draft, scheduled for April 24-26 in Green Bay.
On Thursday, the Cowboys hosted Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins on a top-30 visit. He must have enjoyed it, as he posted a picture of himself and Dallas owner Jerry Jones to his Instagram story (h/t Brandon Loree of SB Nation).
Many Cowboys fans may want Dallas to take Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty, who played at Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas. However, the 2024 Heisman finalist may be unavailable at pick No. 12 for the Cowboys.
In his latest mock draft, Luke Easterling of Athlon Sports has the Chicago Bears take Jeanty with pick No. 10.
Judkins could be a solid Plan B for the Cowboys. In 2024, he helped Ohio State win its ninth national championship. Even though he split carries with fellow star RB TreVeyon Henderson, Judkins still led the team in rushing yards, with 1,060 in 16 games.
When he was a primary ball-carrier in his first two seasons at Ole Miss, he ran for 2,725 yards and 31 TDs.
