The New York Yankees have gotten off to an incredible start to the 2025 MLB season and that continued on Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
New York got off to a hot start in Friday’s matchup and never looked back as they defeated Pittsburgh 9-4, improving their record to 5-2 to start the season.
Max Fried led the way for the Yankees as he tossed a gem on the mound in his second career Yankees’ start. He went 5.2 innings while striking out six batters and allowing just one earned run, which came off a round-tripper by Bryan Reynolds in the third inning.
Of course, most had their eyes on Yankees star Aaron Judge in Friday’s game as he has gotten off to a historic start to the season.
It was a slow start for Judge until the seventh inning when he launched a 403-foot home run off Pirates reliever Tim Mayza to extend the Yankees lead.
This was the only hit Judge recorded in the game as he finished going one for five with a two-run home run and three strikeouts.
With his seventh inning homer, Judge made MLB history as he became the first player in league history with six home runs and 17 RBI in a team’s first seven games of the season.
It has truly been a historic start for Judge who is now batting .379 with six home runs and 17 RBI as the Yankees continue to dominate their way though the start of the season.
That was not the only history Judge made in the game though as the 32-year-old outfielder also tied Yankee legend Babe Ruth with 321 home runs in his first 1,000 MLB games.
With Judge playing the way he has, he is looking like the early favorite to win AL MVP once again and New York looks like a true World Series Contender with him leading the way.
