The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the most complete teams in the league, but even they aren’t incapable of significant injuries.
In late March, the Dodgers received bad news that one of their key players and reigning World Series MVP first baseman Freddie Freeman had encountered a setback with his right ankle. On April 3, Freeman was placed on the injured list after slipping in the shower and re-injuring his surgically repaired ankle.
Freeman’s injury has temporarily opened up a spot for a younger player to contribute.
Dodgers Beat’s Cody Snavely reported that the Dodgers have recalled Hunter Feduccia from their Triple-A affiliate, the Oklahoma City Comets.
Feduccia has come a long way since being a 12th-round pick by the Dodgers in the 2018 Draft.

After multiple seasons developing in the Dodgers’ Double-A and Triple-A teams, Feduccia had his major league debut last season. He played five games and encountered 12 at-bats for the Dodgers, where he accounted for two runs, four hits, one RBI, two walks, two strikeouts, a batting average of .333, an on-base percentage of .429, and a slugging percentage of .333.
Feduccia is putting up incredible numbers for the Comets in five Triple-A games this season. In 12 at-bats, he has accounted for six runs, five hits, one double-base hit, one home run, four RBIs, five walks, only two strikeouts, a batting average of .357, an on-base percentage of .526, and a slugging percentage of .643.
Feduccia is currently the third-slated catcher in the depth chart behind Will Smith and Austin Barnes. There’s a chance he could earn more time on the regular season roster by continuing his momentum, even if Freeman returns healthy.
