While the Pittsburgh Steelers continue to wait on a decision from that veteran free agency quarterback on where he’ll play in 2025, the team brought in another potential option on Friday.
Multiple reports indicate former Ole Miss Jaxson Dart was one of a few players that came in for pre-draft visits.
Dart is widely considered to be the No. 3 quarterback in this year’s draft behind Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders.
Both Sanders and Ward are expected to be off the board early in the first round, but it’s possible that Dart is still around at No. 21 for the Steelers’ first pick.
Pittsburgh won’t have another pick until the third round after trading their second-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks as part of a deal that brought wideout D.K. Metcalf to town.
Alongside Dart, Pittsburgh also hosted Iowa State receiver Jaylin Noel, Oregon defensive lineman Jamaree Caldwell and South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori for pre-draft visits.
Initial reports were that coach Mike Tomlin wasn’t available to be present on Friday, but those were quickly squashed by the team’s communication department, who confirmed that he was.
Steelers writer Mark Kaboly posted on X that you can’t always read a lot into pre-draft visits.
“Top 30 visits are important but you can’t read everything into it. Maybe it is to re-check medical or didn’t have a chance to meet at combine?”
But that works both ways.
The Steelers could be incredibly interested in Dart. We won’t know until April 24 when the draft kicks off in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
