The annual league meetings have fed Dallas Cowboys fans endless soundbites and remarks from the men up top, Jerry and Stephen Jones, about the team’s offseason.
One of their the last major plans is signing star linebacker Micah Parsons to a contract extension … the same contract that has been in the works for months.
In Jerry’s last statement about the topic, he didn’t say much to help Dallas’ cause on getting a deal done soon.
Jones offered a disrespectful “jab” at Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, saying he didn’t even know his name.
This is because Jerry does things his own way. He’s been quoted saying he has been in direct contact with his defensive star.
So direct, that he said Micah is one of just a few people with his personal cell phone number … but that Micah asked for it.
It’s clear they have had private meetings (without agents) regarding the contract, but Jones will likely regret the comment made about the highly-respected Mulugheta.
Parsons fired back on social media and gave a definitive stance on the negotiation and his agent.
“David is the best and I will not be doing any deal without (Mulugheta) involved! … There is no one I trust more when it comes to negotiating contracts than David! There will be no backdoors in this contract negotiation,” Parsons said.
Now the internet is buzzing about Parsons’ views toward the Cowboys’ front office. This bait has called many analysts to throw out hot takes on Micah’s future in Dallas.
The latest message comes from former Heisman Trophy winner and No. 2 overall pick, Robert Griffin III, now a freelance analyst.
“If Micah Parsons wants to win AND get paid, he should demand a trade from the Dallas Cowboys,” Griffin wrote on X.
The Cowboys, as frustrating as they may be to work with, will be equipped with quality talent and a fresh coaching staff to be ready to win games in 2025 with Parsons as the leader of the bunch.
And he’s going to get his money. That’s a given.
His temper may be hot, but we highly doubt this idea from RGIII is going to get anywhere close to the head of Parsons.
Micah has stated numerous times how he wants to stay in Dallas, and would even take a pay cut that doesn’t make him the highest priced non-quarterback if it helps the team.
This contract is nearly finished, anyway. Jones stated this week that “most of the issues” regarding Parsons’ deal are in agreement. See below.
The problem? Mulugheta feels uninvolved, so it’ll be Micah who must connect the two parties.
Of course, the possibility of losing Parsons to a trade should scare the Joneses straight, but as we said … they move how they want to move.
