BREAKING: Dodgers Shockingly Predicted To Trade Top Prospect To NL Contender

The Los Angeles Dodgers have a very talented team with a few top prospects banging on the door of the big leagues. One of these prospects, Dalton Rushing, doesn’t have a clear shot at the big leagues because he’s blocked by the plethora of All-Stars on the roster.

Athlon Sports’ Jon Conahan recently predicted the Dodgers would trade Rushing to the Cincinnati Reds this season in a shocking move.

“If Rushing could platoon as a left-handed bat for Jose Trevino behind the plate, there’s reason to believe this deal could work,” Conahan wrote. “Trevino is a decent defensive catcher, but he’s never been much of an offensive player.

“Rushing has no experience at the big league level, but has hit his way through the minors, and has done nothing but swing the bat at a high level in the early stages of the 2025 campaign in Triple-A. He’s currently slashing .333/.423/.476 with one home run in 21 at-bats. The Reds could use that.”

Rushing is a huge talent with a load of potential. He could be an impact bat as soon as right now for the Reds, but it wouldn’t make sense to platoon him with Jose Trevino.

Tyler Stephenson is set to return for the Reds in the near future and Cincinnati recently locked up Trevino to a multi-year deal. While Rushing has more potential than Trevino, the Dodgers prospect would likely work as an outfielder with the Reds upon Stephenson’s return.

Conahan doesn’t specify what it would take for the Reds to land him, but it would likely be quite a bit. Cincinnati would need to package prospects together or trade an impact player like Alexis Diaz or Andrew Abbott to bring in Rushing.

This hypothetical deal is missing a lot of substance. It would be huge for the Reds, but it seems unlikely.
