The Dallas Cowboys know that the 2025 season will be under a microscope.  While they had an incredible amount of regular season success under Mike McCarthy, their post-season appearances left a lot to be desired.

Going into this season, fans will immediately have high expectations for new head coach Brian Schottenheimer.  As it turns out, one long-time start is being directly linked to the team for their turnaround.

There are a number of questions facing the Dallas Cowboys secondary heading into the 2025 season, varying in scope and importance. From the top of the depth chart, they trickle down to the smaller names. One name could help with that:

A franchise notorious for giving players second chances, the Cowboys could be a landing spot for former Las Vegas Raiders defensive back Jack Jones. The Raiders released Jones after a lackluster showing last season and a general scheme change incoming with Pete Carroll becoming the new head coach.

Jones posted career bests in tackles (69) and interceptions (three), ending his tenure as one of the most productive players from the Antonio Pierce regime. However, his 698 yards and nine touchdowns allowed in coverage remain a glaring negative for any team willing to take him on.

The uncertainty around Diggs makes the need for a backup plan more pertinent for this group. Jones may not be more steady than the options at hand, but Jones combined with the addition of a rookie generates more competition in the offseason.
