Novak Djokovic immediately confessed that he does not have huge ambitions for this edition of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, a tournament that he has won twice in his legendary career but in which he has struggled a lot to play his best tennis in recent years.

Everyone knows that the Serbian ace needs a period of adaptation on red clay and needs to play several matches before he can shine on this surface, especially in this last phase of his career. In addition, the former world No. 1 reached the final in Miami just over a week ago and didn’t have much time to make the transition from hard courts to red clay.

It is no secret that Nole’s main goal is to be at the top of his shape when Roland Garros begins, where he wants to win his 25th Grand Slam title and write yet another page in tennis history. For this reason, the 37-year-old from Belgrade has decided to expand his schedule on the red clay and will also play the Mutua Madrid Open in Monte Carlo and Rome.

Djokovic practiced with Alcaraz

Djokovic – who is still motivated to compete at the highest level despite the rise of so many young talents – cannot count on Andy Murray’s support in the Principality and has already revealed that the former Scottish champion will return to his box in Madrid.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion strongly wanted his brother Marco this week, with whom he is happy to spend time together and who will also provide him with emotional support.

Yesterday, the Serbian legend had a practice session with Carlos Alcaraz and there was also a practice set before the end of training.

Novak was ahead 5-4, when he decided to end training being visibly exhausted. The former world number 1 did not want to waste too much energy in view of his debut in Monte Carlo, where he will face a specialist of this surface like Alejandro Tabilo. The Chilean player is very dangerous on these courts and already beat Nole in Rome last year.
