Djokovic vs. Tabilo: Monte Carlo Preview & Pick
You can probably count the number of players who have, or had, a winning record against Djokovic on one hand. Among them, Tabilo might be the most surprising. But it’s true, the Serb and the Chilean have played once, last year in Rome, and the Chilean won 6-2, 6-3.
Tabilo ended up making the semifinal of that event, his best result at a Masters 1000. He also had his best season, peaking at a career-high No. 19, at the relatively advanced age of 26. So far, though, 2025 has been a tougher go. The lefty is just 3-9 so far, and 1-4 on clay.
On the plus side, he did scrape out a win, 7-5 in the third, over Stan Wawrinka on Monday. And Djokovic has had a habit of losing early at his old stomping grounds in recent years. From 2021 to 2023, he went 1-3 in Monte Carlo, before reaching the semifinals last year.
Which means this match should be interesting and unpredictable. Djokovic had his best result of the season two weeks ago in Miami, but how quickly will he adjust to clay? Winner: Djokovic
