Jazz Chisholm makes thoughts on Yankees’ frigid Detroit series perfectly clear on IG

The New York Yankees’ bats started the season red hot, and will likely get there again someday. Based on the run of upcoming starting pitching in their future, as well as their current road locale, it might take a little while, though.

If you’re uncomfortable watching these games from afar, just think of how Jazz Chisholm and the rest of his teammates are feeling. The Detroit Tigers audibled and made this entire series day games to try to evade the frigid temperatures but, uh, it didn’t work; snow flurries interrupted Monday’s series opener, and Tuesday afternoon seems to be January-esque.

Day game or night game, Chisholm isn’t having it; even October in the Bronx isn’t usually this chilled to the bone.

Ahead of Tuesday’s second game of the series, Chisholm all but proved the weather is getting the best of him by calling out the league, the scheduling office, and whoever was involved in sending the Yankees to the Motor City so early in the season. He posted an Instagram story reacting to the weather in the same way many of us have from the comfort of our couches.

He’s right, you know. At the very least, have the common decency to make it April 24 or something.

How many torpedo bats did you guys bring? You might have to start burning them for kindling.

To make matters worse, the Yankees will have to bat against Tarik Skubal on Tuesday, hoping to avoid too many fastballs in on the hands. That’s kind of Skubal’s whole thing, though, which should lead to a hefty amount of ringing and stinging.

After this set in Detroit, the Yankees come home to face the hottest team in baseball (no, really) in the San Francisco Giants. What a ripoff. They get a California team to head to the east coast during this winter/spring hybrid month, but it’s not even one of the warm-weather ones that’ll be thrown off? April at Yankee Stadium is going to feel like June by McCovey Cove. Again, LAME.

Hopefully, the Yankees can figure out their own internal core temperatures by then and get back to raking. Otherwise, their time on the tundra might last longer than expected.
