The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to evaluate players they can select with the 21st pick of the NFL Draft on April 24. To that end, they are bringing in Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders for a visit on Thursday.
And Shedeur has a 1-word message for The Steel City as he packs his bags.
The chances of Sanders slipping to No. 21 seem to be increasing. If he gets past the New Orleans Saints at No. 9, it is entirely possible he could fall to the Steelers.
Pittsburgh could also look to make a trade to get up in the first round to draft the former Buffaloes star.
While the Steelers wait on Aaron Rodgers to decide if he wants to accept their one-year, $30 million contract offer, they’ve gotten a shoutout from Shedeur, the son of the iconic Deion Sanders, who coached the QB at CU.
“Legendary,” is Shedeur’s 1-word social media message … complete with a picture of him wearing a Steelers jersey.
Sanders has been thought of as the second-best quarterback in the draft to Miami’s Cam Ward, who is projected to go to the Tennessee Titans with the top pick in the draft. Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart has also been mentioned as a possible choice for the Steelers if he is still on the board at No. 21.
Sanders, meanwhile, was once projected to go second or third to the Cleveland Browns or New York Giants. His stock has slipped but did pick up a little after his much-hyped workout last Friday in Boulder.
The Browns might select Sanders’ two-way teammate at Colorado, Travis Hunter, with the second pick. The Giants are trending towards taking Penn State’s edge rusher Abdul Carter but remain in play for the quarterback’s services.
The Giants are said to be high on Sanders but signed Russell Wilson at Jameis Winston to quarterback the team in 2025. Therefore, they can afford to select a quarterback a little later in the draft and not overspend on Sanders.
The Colorado quarterback is therefore in play for the Steelers, in theory.
But so is Rodgers. In theory.
