REPORT: Dodgers Reveal Major Freddie Freeman News on Wednesday

The Los Angeles Dodgers began the 2025 MLB season with seven straight wins. As of Wednesday, the Dodgers sat with a 9-4 record, good for third in the crowded National League West division.

However, most of those games were without superstar Freddie Freeman. The first baseman missed the Tokyo Series against the Chicago Cubs with rib discomfort, and then he played three games in LA against the Detroit Tigers.

After that, a shower mishap forced Freeman to go on the 10-day IL with an ankle issue in another bizarre turn of events.

The good news is coming for the Dodgers and Freeman, and manager Dave Roberts revealed a big update on the veteran’s status.

“Dave Roberts said Freddie Freeman will return on Friday when Dodgers return home. Freeman has been taking live batting practice the last few days since #Dodgers have been on the road at Dodger Stadium,” per LA Sports radio host David Vassegh.

That’s good news for the Dodgers and Freeman. The former Atlanta Braves slugger has played just three games in the 2025 MLB season and has only one hit in 10 at-bats.

Roberts had previously mentioned he was hopeful Freeman would be there Wednesday in the Nationals series, although it’s taking a bit longer than expected.

The Dodgers conclude a three-game series with the Washington Nationals on Wednesday and face the Cubs again, this time in LA, in a three-game set beginning on Friday.

As it stands, Roberts expects Freeman to be ready by the time the six-game homestand starts.
