The winds of change have blown through The Star this offseason for the Dallas Cowboys with Brian Schottenheimer taking over from the departed Mike McCarthy.
But the change hasn’t stopped there as aside from Lunda Wells, Schotty has hired a brand new coaching staff, and it is some that fills Cowboy Nation with some levels of intrigue and excitement.
One of the big things we’ve noticed in the last couple of months is Schottenheimer’s want to build a culture that the Cowboys can finally be proud of, and no, it won’t happen overnight, but there is no doubting that Schotty is talking the talk and walking the walk right now.
Part of that is getting everyone on the same page regarding the direction he wants the franchise to go, and for Dak Prescott, who was speaking at a Children’s Cancer Fund event in Dallas, what Schottenheimer is doing already has him excited.
“Just excitement,” Prescott said. “I’ve known Schotty, he’s been there the last couple of years, and it’s not any monumental conversations that need to happen, but definitely his direction and the way he sees this offense going, the way he sees this team going, I think it’s clear throughout the team. With the guys and the men he’s hired as the coaches, the way he’s got the whole building on the same page, just excited for this chapter under him and the way he’s going to lead this team.”

Brian Schottenheimer And Dak
By Tony Fisher
There is change happening for the Cowboys, and while nothing substantial can be tied to it yet, there are positive vibes coming from the building (of course, it’s the offseason).
But the true test of what Schottenheimer wants to build will be when the preseason activities begin and we can see his vision come to life.
Right now, it is all words, but they are positive ones, with the Cowboys under Schottenheimer looking to be a vastly different team on and off the field than they’ve been in previous years.
Change is as good as a holiday, and maybe, after many years of McCarthy, Dallas just needed a fresh change, and under Schottenheimer, the Cowboys are getting that in more ways than one.
It emphasizes relationships, and it is clear that, at least right now, things are trending in the right direction.
