Former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy has died at the age of 24.
Although authorities have not given the official cause of death for Lacy, many have already stated online that he may have died from suicide.
A source told WAFB-TV that Lacy’s death is “a suspected suicide.”
We are now finding out more information about what happened that may have led to him taking his own life.
Wide receiver Kyren Lacy died from an apparent “self-inflicted gunshot wound” following a police pursuit in Texas, local authorities said Sunday.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the Constable’s Office responded to a call Saturday night where Lacy and a family member were verbally arguing.
Lacy was arguing with a family member shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday and reportedly pulled out a gun and shot it at the ground before leaving the area.
About half an hour later, Kyren Lacy was spotted driving by a constable and attempted to make a traffic stop.
Deputies said Lacy refused to stop and was chased for several miles before he crashed his vehicle. If they were able to, Lacy was certainly going to be arrested.
Unfortunately, they would never get a chance.
A report from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office says that when deputies walked up to Lacy’s vehicle to take him into custody, they would soon realize he shot himself during the pursuit, before the crash.

Late 2025 NFL Draft prospect Kyren Lacy’s father, Kenny Lacy, has broken his silence after his son’s sudden death.
Kyren, a former wide receiver for Louisiana State University, reportedly took his own life.
“Young parents, start talking to your kids at a very early age and make sure they are confident and comfortable confiding in you,” Kenny wrote via Facebook on Sunday, April 13. “Don’t be cool with ‘I’m Alright, or I’m good’ when you know deep down something isn’t right. Mental Health is real, and for the most part [and] it’s invisible. Don’t ignore the signs, even if they may seem small.”
He continued, “Our lives have changed forever, and this will never be OK, but God needed my baby more than he was needed here. This has to be the biggest pill our families have had to swallow, but I know the love and compassion in our families will get us through.”
Kyren had declared for the 2025 draft, which kicks off on Thursday, April 24, 11 days after the late athlete’s death.
Kyren’s death also came several months after his arrest for negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless driving.
