They always say the early bird gets the worm.
Even when you’re the most valuable sports brand in the world like the Dallas Cowboys.
Monday, the team arrived for the first day of voluntary workouts at The Star in Frisco. They were greeted by the team’s social media squad and … a special visitor.
Obviously, not everyone took the bait … like quarterback Dak Prescott choosing to pass it to the next guy, Micah Parsons letting go a few choice words in shock, and KaVontae Turpin reaching to touch one before realizing they were live worms.
Others seemed to enjoy the gag … like self-proclaimed “country boy” Jalen Tolbert and Brandon Aubrey confirming they are indeed “actual worms”.
Cowboys’ punter Bryan Anger was especially excited about the gift, saying he can add them to his fishing pale.
The rest of the team was treated to a gummy worm, which did much better in cheering up the spirits.
The energy is high inside the Cowboys’ locker room as the team returns to practice and looks to build chemistry ahead of the 2025 season after a disappointing 7-10 finish in 2024.
Fans were especially excited to see Micah walk through the doors, as he shows up despite his ongoing contract extension negotiations with the front office.
Dallas saw a holdout from CeeDee Lamb last offseason … and feared the same could be in store for Micah, but the “lion-backer” put those rumors to rest Monday.
Prescott continues to recover from season-ending hamstring surgery, but confirmed earlier that he would be an early attendee and be “involved in some sort”.
Both Prescott and Parsons will be looked at as Day 1 leaders of their respective units. Their participation in introductory programs are a great sign for the start of the new season.
