As the Pittsburgh Steelers continue the search for Najee Harris’ replacement, there’s a good chance they could look to the upcoming NFL Draft.
Almost a third of their allotted 30 pre-draft visits have been from running backs available in the NFL Draft. That’s a pretty strong indication that that’s a position with a bullseye on it.
Per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Brian Batko, the Steelers are visiting with Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson and UCF’s RJ Harvey.
As Batko pointed out in response to a question about Judkins, who is considered the better of the two Ohio State backs, “Can’t assume they aren’t looking at or don’t like Judkins. They just didn’t bring him on a 30-visit. But they were at Ohio State’s pro day, had dinner with him and others and did a formal meeting with him at the combine.”
In his NFL Draft profile, NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein noted his above-average acceleration.
“Henderson is capable of starring on third downs or biting off a bigger chunk as a three-down option. He has average size but above-average juice with good acceleration. He’s an average decision-maker inside and is not overly creative once confronted by the defense, but he has the pacing and subtle shiftiness to excel as an outside runner. He might be the best pass-protecting running back in this draft and is more than capable as a pass-catcher.
“Henderson isn’t Jahmyr Gibbs, but he can operate in a similar role for teams looking to add a more dynamic player to their running back room.”
