Micah Parsons clapped back at a fan on social media who echoed a familiar critique of the Dallas Cowboys star pass-rusher.
Parsons is in attendance for the Cowboys’ voluntary workouts, which started on Monday. He had not attended the prior two years and his presence appeared questionable considering his contract situation.
Parsons and Dallas are in talks to reach a long-term deal. He’s heading into the final year of his rookie contract and is projected to land an extension that will make him among the highest-paid non-quarterbacks in the NFL.
The team has taken its time with the deal, which Cowboys COO Stephen Jones explained during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan.
“Where the rub comes in is, we’re trying to not only keep guys like Dak (Prescott) and CeeDee (Lamb) and Micah, but we’re also trying to put a team around them that can be and can compete and win championships,” Jones said. “We’re trying to get them to, come a little our way, and take into account some of the things that are positive about playing for the Cowboys.”

Parsons has registered 52.5 sacks in 63 games — all with the Cowboys. His impact on the field is elite but some have cited his social media use and podcast as distractions.
A disgruntled fan called out Parsons for a recent tweet he sent, saying, “Get back to the practice field and stop tweeting! This guy is so frustrating!”
The message got the attention of Parsons, who quickly fired back.
“Where you 9-5 brother? It was 1:55 on a Tuesday afternoon!” Parsons replied.
It’s a bold shot from Parsons but one he can likely back up as he nears a potentially record-setting extension.
